Two Medical Practices Opening in West Creek

Medarva West Creek 2

Physician-owned Commonwealth Primary Care Inc. and Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists are the latest medical groups to open new offices in West Creek Medical Park at 1630 Wilkes Ridge Parkway in Goochland County.

The family practice group founded in 2002 now has nine area locations. The practice leased 6,310 square feet of medical office space in the Medarva building.

The new location is the 10th for the cardiology group.

The growing West Creek Medical Park, located off West Broad Street just over the county line, is part of The Notch at West Creek development by Lingerfelt Development Co.

The Medarva building was developed by Lingerfelt CommonWealth Partners in partnership with Medarva Healthcare, the parent company of Stony Point Surgery Center in South Richmond.

Medarva’s West Creek Surgery Center, open for about 18 months in the medical park, has two operating rooms and five procedures rooms, said Bruce P. Kupper, president and CEO of Medarva Healthcare.

“We received approval to build a diagnostic center that will include and MRI and CT scanner out at West Creek, and we are analyzing whether we want to put it in some existing space or whether we are going to construct a new connector building to put the diagnostic center in,” Kupper said.

“We are in discussions with an organization about partnering with us in an opportunity that involves the surgery center. If we are able to solidify that partnership in the near future, then it will use the space we are planning for the diagnostic center and the diagnostic center will go into new space,” Kupper said.

Other tenants in the medical park are Virginia Oculoplastic Surgeons, Virginia Physicians for Women, Richmond Plastic Surgeons, Richmond Gastroenterology Associates, National Spine and Pain Centers, West End Facial Plastic Surgery and Virginia Cardiovascular Specialists.

“There’s a lot going on” in the area, Kupper said.

VCU Health and Sheltering Arms broke ground in May on a new 114-bed rehabilitation facility that will be located on 25 acres in West Creek Medical Park.

Also being developed nearby are a hotel, a continuing care retirement community and a residential development for people 55 and older.

David M. Smith, a senior vice president at Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, is handling leasing for the medical park.
