Matthew coordinates business retention and expansion initiatives for
Goochland County. He also markets the county to developers. He works
closely with business owners and site selection consultants to educate
them on the business climate and available commercial sites and
buildings. He handles financial incentive negotiations, oversees
research, and fosters relationships with commercial real estate brokers
and developers at the local and national level.
Collaborating with the Board of Supervisors, county staff, business
leaders, and the local community, Matthew works to ensure that the
county takes the right steps to encourage and facilitate economic
growth, and commercial investment, while preserving the unique rural
character of Goochland County.
Matthew holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the College
of Charleston, and he completed his BEDC at the University of North
Carolina - Chapel Hill. Matthew has experience in property management,
real estate development, real estate brokerage, and business marketing
Matthew is a member of the International Economic Development Council,
the Southern Economic Development Council, the Virginia Economic
Developers Association, and the Urban Land Institute.
Matthew is married and lives in Goochland County with his wife, Julia, and their two children.
